Calcium’s Friend
Calcium is known as being the key to strong bones thanks to millions of dollars in advertising. But what those advertisements never mentioned is that no calcium enters the bones without proper magnesium absorption.
Well, guess what? 70% of Americans are deficient in Magnesium. The Chinese consume less calcium than us and have far less incidents of weakened bones (they also consume way more magnesium than us & far less dairy). Furthermore, calcium intake without magnesium leads to a serious problem: Soft tissue calcium excess (when the calcium doesn’t go into the bones, but rather the soft tissue where it can lead to numerous problems including Alzheimers). Phosphorus, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin D also aid in calcium absorption.
My favorite calcium supplement is Magnesium Breakthrough because it has seven magnesiums in the supplement – other magnesium supplements offer one or maybe two if you’re lucky. The company is so confident in their product that they offer a 365 day return policy.
The impact of a magnesium deficiency go far beyond not absorbing calcium. A Yale study shows stress causes abdominal fat in otherwise slender women, and other studies show that magnesium helps fight stress and anxiety. Further studies are being done to see what kind of impact magnesium has on boosting the immune system.
